Trying Hainanese Delights for the First Time

This is long-over due post..

I am not a big fan of Chinese foods, but I admit that I love quite a few dishes of the Chinese cuisine.

After my daughter's event Last September 3 at the Sports Complex, we decided to go and roam around at Robinson's Place (Palawan).

Upon arrival at the mall, my daughter told me that she' very hungry and she wants to eat first before roaming.
So I asked her which place she would want to eat, I don't know what's got into her upon choosing Hainanese Delights!

I think she was attracted to the ads that was posted outside the restaurant. She's into chicken dishes that's why she got interested to dine in this place.

While waiting for our orders, I took the chance of taking photos of the place. Well, it's just a small one, but can served up to 30-40 persons. Our orders took almost 20 minutes to prepare.

We ordered two (2) viands and drinks. They're also offering unlimited rice. For my daughter she ordered Chicken Heaven and ordered Bring in the Beef, for our drinks little girl ordered Blue Bubbly..

Bring in the Beef (Php120.00). The tender and tasty beef brisket is beautifully complimented by the Hainanese rice.

I personally don't liked it that much, but the beef is truly tender and tasty. The broth tasted like its been days since its been cooked. Or it's just my taste.

Chicken Heaven (Php 120.00) The savory and tender chicken is coated with rich BBQ sauce served with tasty Hainanese rice.

This is really sumptuous! I loved how juicy the chicken meat and so tender! My daughter loved it!

Blue Bubbly (Php65.00) In a sparkling soda the deliciously tangy orange flavor of Curacao is intensified with sweet hints of lovely rose syrup.
This drink is super sweet. Children will definitely love this one along with the other flavor they're offering (Sparkling Berries). They also have drinks that's in tea based.

While we're eating, the crew keeps on asking us if we want extra-rice. It annoys me, the fact that we haven't finished our first set of rice..

I think we might be visiting this place again and will try the other food on their menu! For sure, their food tastes so good!

Ray-Ban Hero Products

Style, tradition and freedom of expression are the key values underpinning the philosophy of Ray-Ban, for generations the undisputed world leader in sun and prescription eyewear. Ray-ban debuted in 1937 with the Aviator model created for American Air Force pilots.

Unaffected by the conceptual transience of fashion, Ray-Ban immediately made a name for itself, thanks to the absolute quality and authenticity of its eyewear, now more “modern” than ever and worn by countless movie celebrities and trendsetters all over the world.

For 2012 and Ray-Ban’s 75th anniversary, the hero products are the Ray-Ban Aviator in its different shapes, with new original details and unique heritage lens – the Ambermatic, and the modernized classic, pairing flair and style with technology and convenience  – the Folding Aviator.

The Ambermatic. Original Ray-Ban Ambermatic lens from 1978 are reintroduced for the first time into the Ray-Ban Collection. These lenses adjust both color and density for light and weather conditions. Under overcast skies, they are light to medium shade of amber/brown to cut through haze; it improves contrast and sharpens details.

They are also premier sports lens that adjusts from light amber/brown to dark gray/brown to meet
changing weather and glare conditions. They always retain high contrast features, also best for driving on overcast days.

The Folding Aviator. The Aviator was the first model launched by Ray-Ban which proved to be a success in the market. Over time, it has become one of Ray-Ban’s icons and best-sellers and the most imitated sunglasses in the world. It would be recognized as an American design classic. Combining tradition and innovation, Ray-Ban has come up with the Folding Aviator, the same technology applied previously to the Ray-Ban Folding Wayfarers. This is an Aviator you can flaunt and bring with you everywhere you go.

75 Legendary Years of Ray-Ban

Manila (Philippines), October 2012 – leading eyewear brand Ray-Ban is celebrating its 75th anniversary through its Ray-Ban Legends communication campaign.  Branded Lifestyle, Inc., exclusive distributor of Ray-Ban in the Philippines is spearheading initiatives that highlight the commemoration of Ray-Ban’s 75 remarkable years in the industry – from its historically relevant beginnings to its iconic status at the present.

Ray-Ban Legends tells the history and the spirit of 75 years of being yourself and freely expressing your beliefs and personality. Since its creation in 1937 and up to the present day, honouring the values of authenticity and uniqueness constitutes the DNA of Ray-Ban.

Icons and legends of the past, present and future: this is the key message of Ray-Ban Legends. Shot by photographer Mark Seliger in California, the campaign frames seven legendary moments (one per decade), each inspired by a real life and particularly iconoclastic figure. Every character wears a Ray-Ban Icon. Each image evokes a specific story and is epitomized by the chromatic tones that are faithful to the relevant decade (black and white, sepia and, naturally, colour).

“My first pair of sunglasses were Ray-Bans. I used to borrow my older brother’s gold-rimmed aviators with the green lenses, not always with his permission, and I suddenly became the coolest 13 year-old in Texas. So when they approached me to shoot the 75th anniversary campaign, it seemed like the ultimate creative dream, especially since I had lived through a couple of those decades” says Mark Seliger.

“It was one of those opportunities that doesn’t come around too often, and I really enjoyed being a part of the creative team. Our Creative Director Erik Vervroegen proposed scenarios that were photographic, iconic, controversial and fun, and it seemed like the perfect fit for what I do and what the Ray-Ban brand represents” continues Mark Seliger.

The result is an extraordinary gallery of powerful images that span an era, while capturing specific moments in time. In keeping with the Never Hide spirit, the seven figures unconsciously broke through barriers; their eyes were open while the world’s were closed.

A group of pilots, the Blue Devils, in the 1930s; a writer’s “relationship” in the heart of America in the 1940s; a singer-songwriter who worked with Elvis Presley in the 1950s; an English socialite in the 1960s; a boy and girl falling in love during a protest in the 1970s; the nightlife of three girls in the 1980s, and a courageous rapper in the 1990s.

Taylor Swift's RED, Set for Release This November

Taylor Swift is back! And she's back with a BANG! My daughter will definitely love this new album just like the previous one!

Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated fourth studio album will be released nationwide on November 5

Entitled RED, the album will be released under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) and will contain 16 tracks. After writing her last album (Speak Now) entirely by herself, for this record Taylor collaborated with several artists, producers, and songwriters she had always wanted to work with.“For the last two years, I've been working on an album called Red,” Taylor says. “I called it Red because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles. In my mind, when you experience love that's fast paced and out of control and mixes infatuation, jealousy, frustration, miscommunication, and all of those lovely emotions… in retrospect, it all looks red.”
Also catch the following Taylor Swift fan gatherings where fun, freebies and more exclusive Taylor Swift items await all fans!

Neva's Place: Back from the Ashes

Neva’s Place Restaurant, in Puerto Princesa was one of those very favorite places to eat on here in Palawan.

Neva's Place before August 19th. Photo courtesy of Miss Donna Davis (donnaonpalawan.wordpress.com) .

Way back in August, Neva's Place was burnt down. All were burnt, including the owner's family memorabilia.

Within a few weeks time, the restaurant was back in operating business again.
A week after the fire they started deliveries and take-outs of pizza again. Good thing the brick oven survived. They've reconstructed the roof.

On the second week, the pastas and the salads came back: sarap-pinoy, tuna al pesto, puttanesca, seafood pasta, chicken al pesto, etc.

On the third week the rest of the items in their menu one by one came back, too! Chicken cordon bleu, lechon kawali, mashed potatoes, our very own Cuyonon dish called 'laoya' which is served with yaho' (Cuyonon bagoong) with langkawas (aromatic ginger), binagoongang baboy, ginataang gulay, roasted herbed chicken, Thai curried chicken, etc.

Today, my better half treated us (me and my daughter) for a sumptuous lunch over the restaurant by the ruins. Although it's a bit frustrating because of the heavy rain.

We both ordered Carbonara with Garlic Bread.

The little girl ordered her all-time favorite, Fried Chicken with Spaghetti (with 1 rice add on).

And she really loved it!

And of course, Marnie (though still sober) enjoyed eating his bowl of Carbonara.

Of course, we never forgot to order a pizza. Hawaiian as always!

A closer shot..

Gloomy afternoon, rain didn't stop us from visiting this place.

This is what the place looks like right now.

With these kubos/huts, always feel so refreshing while waiting for the sumptuous foods you ordered.

Still cozy and comfy place to stay.

This is where the brick-oven was then and now.
Pardon me for the low-res quality of the photos. I just took these using my ever reliable mobile phone. My camera's still on it's vacation in Manila.. :)

Although the place isn't finish yet (reconstruction-wise), I can say that this pizza house still rocks. It's the same Neva's Place that we know.
